the learning tree

We are a pre-school with a long history in the Middle Village area. We prepare our students for grade school but more importantly we teach them to respect each other and to learn in an atmosphere of fun and cooperation.

Letter from Parent

From the time my son was born, I knew we would send him to preschool as soon as he was of age. Although I had an unbelievable private babysitter, I felt strongly that my son get the socialization and structured learning environment that could be provided in a preschool setting.

When he neared the age he could attend, I began to visit all of the schools in my area. I decided to visit The Learning Tree last as I thought I might be biased because I went to preschool there when I was a child. I found that other schools may have had computers or provided food in their costs, but those things paled in comparison once I visited the Learning Tree. I met the school’s director, Abe during an open house session and could immediately tell that the Learning Tree was the place for my son. Abe was enthusiastic, and involved, in all aspects of the school, including the staff, the children and their families. I was impressed by the detailed curriculum developed for the youngest students to the eldest that the teachers were real teachers and not just trained lap people, and most especially for the care and dedication Abe conveyed regarding all areas of the school, its development and upkeep. In addition, the ratios of teachers to students were reasonable and they were willing to assist parents in their journey of potty training.

My son has been a Learning Tree student since September 2006 and has attended school as well as summer camp there. My expectations have been far exceeded. He has flourished both academically as well as socially. We are now part of the Learning Tree “family”. All of the teachers and assistants know my son and have been involved with him in one way or another. He is excited about learning and frequently shares his school experiences at home. As a working parent, I know that potty training would have taken far longer if not for the staff’s help. There are multiple wonderful activities for the students as well as their families throughout the year that reinforce a sense of community, such as the book fair, international night, carnival, as well as holiday celebrations that honor multiple cultures and religious affiliations.  I feel confident that my child is well cared for while I am at work and if I have a concern I feel that I am heard by teachers, assistants and, most importantly, the director Abe.

There are truly no words that could describe my endorsement of the school, the staff and their approach to providing a “holding environment” for young children. My husband and I have been so happy with the care and education, that our daughter will be the next Learning Tree student come September 2008 and as I am currently pregnant with our third child, I am certain that he will be another proud and happy graduate of the Learning Tree.
